Shell You Be Mine? (WIP)
Environment Art Lead | 2024

Updated version of the film coming soon!

Shell You Be Mine? is an animated short film that was brought to life with the creative and technical abilities of over twenty visualization students at Texas A&M University. With the guidance of visualization alumni who are currently working at Pixar, Dreamworks, and Marvel Studios, students were able to produce a high-quality short throughout the duration of a semester.

Software used: Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe Substance 3D Painter, Adobe Substance 3D Designer, and Houdini.

3D Modeling

For Shell You Be Mine?, my goal was to continue advancing my modeling, UV unwrapping, and texturing skills. Though I had prior experience, I realized that some of the things I was doing could be improved - mainly in terms of geometry. So, for this project, I was extremely conscious of deleting n-gons, getting rid of unnecessary edge-loops, and made sure there were no other imperfections in the geometry.

Having a nice, clean model is crucial for the success of any project. If a model has flawed geometry, issues will arise later when imported into a different software.

Look Development

Responsible for look development. Unreal visual development rig created by Adithya Sathya.

Like modeling, creating even and well-functioning UVs is also crucial. There needs to be no overlapping or stretching of the UVs in order for the texturing process to go along smoothly. If the UVs are not done properly, artifacting and other issues relating to the visual appearance of the textures will be displayed.
